Do you have a knack for comedy writing?

Do at least three of your friends think you're funny?

Then we want you to contribute to the site! We really do read all submissions carefully, and granted you answered yes to the first two questions, the chances of having your writing published to over half a million college kids every month are actually pretty good.

Please take a moment to read these guidelines before submitting an article.

We're specifically looking for:

  • Humorous, creative, thematic, and entertaining articles
  • At least 600 words length
  • Original articles only (no forwards or articles by someone other than you)

Addressing a particular subject or current event is great, as long as it's comedic. Past contributions include topics ranging from potential extreme stunts and blow-up doll girlfriends to college classroom etiquette and the walk of shame.

Your article doesn't have to be about alcohol or sex to be appealing to us; in fact, we favor creative writing, "boring" topics made interesting, satire/parodies, and other offbeat ideas you won't find in your campus newspaper. We receive a lot of guides and "how to's," but unless it's as funny as it is helpful, we probably won't accept your advice. Just relax and let your personality and sense of humor shine through. Remember, the main goal is to arouse laughter from your audience, however you can best accomplish that!

Things that will increase the chances of having your article published:

  • Original topics (ones we haven't covered before or at least new spins on stuff)
  • Strong first paragraph (this will show up on the front page)
  • Proofread/polished articles (although we may also edit your work)
  • Catchy, relevant titles
  • Submitting up to 3 different articles (so we can get a better idea of your style)
  • Already being registered for the site as a member and uploading your photo and bio

If we decide to publish your article, it will go up on the front page, as well as the Comedy Articles section. Your name and photo will go up alongside your article and your profile will have a spot for future submissions.

We prefer to receive your article in Word document format. We also assume you probably wrote it in Word to begin with, so this is probably easiest for you.

If you have multiple articles, please send up to 3 of your best at the same time. This gives us a better initial idea of your writing style and increases your chances that at least one of them will fit in with our publishing schedule.

When you're good 'n ready, attach your article(s) and email it (them) to: court@pointsincase.com

Also include the following info in your email:

  1. Your PIC member name
  2. Any images you may have
  3. A little about yourself (previous writing experience, where you go to school, how often you're interested in submitting new stuff, etc)

Thanks, we look forward to reading your best work!
