Emily Flake is a cartoonist, writer, performer, and illustrator living in Brooklyn, NY. She is the author of "That Was Awkward: The Art and Etiquette of the Awkward Hug," "These Things Ain't Gonna Smoke Themselves," and "Mama Tried." Her cartoons appear regularly in The New Yorker, and her work has also appeared in Mad, The New York Times, The New Statesman, The Wall Street Journal, The Globe and Mail.
