Having been raised on the generally accepted holy pillars of British comedy, I often tried to combine these sensibilities with music, with varying degrees of success. In truth, they were invariably terrible. A choice was required, and music won the votes, taking me on a whirlwind journey through the social clubs of Wakefield and the squats of Bristol. Only later did I discover that I could implement both music and comedy through the burgeoning battle rap scene, achieving a moderate degree of recognition from a niche pocket within a niche pocket. Some time after this, I came to the conclusion that I could strip the rapping elements away completely, leaving only the comedy, for efficiency's sake. Efficiency is at the heart of all good comedy.
