Matt Ward is a comedy outlaw. He refuses to conform to the PG and PC guidelines that comedy clubs more often are requiring. Matt Ward doesn't set out to offend, but he routinely stumbles into territory his devoted fans fearlessly go with him. He is an everyman and a nobody simultaneously. Ward has shared the stage with Doug Stanhope and Kyle Kinane. His background is in the music industry spending the last 15 years promoting, performing, and producing live entertainment. Ward produced the show where Doug Stanhope recorded "From Across the Street" in 2009 in Wilmington, North Carolina. He also produces an annual charity cancer benefit in Wilmington called Laughing for Life as well as producing both Port City's Top Comic, The Rocky Top Comedy Contest and The Cape Fear Comedy Festival. Matt is also the founder of The Crackers of Comedy Tour, a stand-up comedy tour featuring pasty white comics that tours around the country each winter.
How is Matt Ward a comedy outlaw? Due to Matt’s involvement with producing shows he has been blacklisted by many stand-up comedy booking agencies and some clubs. He refuses to wait for opportunity to fall in his lap and aggressively tours to continue building his fan base. Ward currently lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.
