Just a few things I’ve noticed while I’ve been here. (3 months doesn’t really seem like that long until I remember that I seriously thought I wouldn’t last 2 weeks.)
- Every time a new person signs up for the whirl-wind life of a lazy writer, the site must go down for no reason at all.
Or at least that is how it has acted since I got here (sorry). It’s how the servers celebrate newbies. (The servers are women. Doubt me? The servers left the relationship because Court didn’t understand them like Bankruptcy does. In fact, I think the servers said “It’s not you, it’s me.” I repeat; the servers are women.)
- Everyone takes this way too seriously.
“I can’t place this article up for Points in Case because it does not meet a certain level of quality I like to put into my writing.” Or “You should write something everyday even if it complete crap.” Or “I have to follow a specific writing ritual which involves poetry, booze, various drugs, and several ethnic strippers.” Or (my personal favorite) “My writing has to have a message.” I am part of the belief that the only people who need to take this site that seriously are those whose livelihoods depend on it.
- Never mention that you are in a relationship.
Not because it is doomed to failure, not because people will start a pool on the break-up date, not even because your boyfriend or girlfriend will start getting poked by random people, but because no one really cares but your mom.
- I am willing to bet money that everyone here has a drug of choice.
My drug of choice is caffeine. Say what you want about alcohol, but I like stimulants. No chance of whiskey-dick with stimulants and it is affordable to the poor college student. I know it’s not really big on mind alterations, but I have enough trouble being coherent as it is. (Do you really want me on something whilst typing? I can already tell you that no matter how interesting may seem at the beginning, it will get severely depressing and nonsensical. I’m talking about almost emo-style depression with lots and lots of whining about some form of precipitation.)
