In a move that reminds me of repealling prohibition, some record companies are giving up on trying to squash DJs who are remxing old songs with new ones and make some money off them instead. Unfortuantely, this will probably mean a bunch of crap, but we should get a few good tunes out of this.

If you haven't heard DJ Dangermouse's Grey Album, then you don't know what you're missing. If I were you, I'd would ignore the other pretenders to grayness like the Metallica version that was just loops and not the beat chopping that DJ DM brought to the forefront. They're totally different genres: one is good and one sucks.

Smash up albums like Numb/Encore can be hit or miss for me. What bothers me is that I worry that we'll have a lot of mediocre music (like we don't have enough of that already) slammed together with other mediocre music to make new mediocre music. That's the problem with the entertainment industry; if something new, innovative and quality comes out, they milk the crap out of it until it. Think reality TV, think blaxpolitation movies, think Saved by the Bell: The New Class. Ugh.

Anyway, I'll prolly check a few tracks out soon. Let me know what you think.
I remixed a remix and it was back to normal.
