Welcome to Day 6 of the PIC Server Failure. Or, as I've come to call it, Typing to No One. Anyway, since I'm almost fifty percent sure we'll get the site up and running soon, and I'm equally sure that all my most recent ramblings will get read in time, I figured I'd take the time to bring you a behind the scenes of the days without servers. Feel free to thank me if we ever get the site up.
Day 1
Wednesday, May 9th, the year of some of our Lords, two thousand and seven, I arrive at work, finish my morning bullshit, and decide to check my latest post for mistakes. I find some mistakes, go to change them and receive a rather rude statement saying that Blogger has disk space full. I would think that a major internet company wouldn't have this problem, so I email Court, owner of our minor internet company.
Then I remember, almost as I type the email, that Court is having surgery on his nose (he wants to look like Jennifer Anniston). Because of this, Court does not respond.
Day 2
Court responds and lets me know that the company that provides our servers is no longer in business. You'd think someone at said company would have sent out an email about this before it happened. Apparently, the server company and PIC have communication issues. I blame Court's drinking problem.
Days 3 through 5
Days three through five are on the weekend. And since I usually don't write on the weekend, I completely forget to care. My brain, thanks in part to excessive alcohol consumption and sun exposure, expects to wake up on Monday and discover that everything is all right.
Day 6
Everything is pretty fucking far from all right. I check the super secret PIC Yahoo group to see what is going on and participate in the following exchange.

We're still working out issues getting the site back to updating-able status. (Yeah, this sucks.)

On the bright side though, thanks to the site being down, my dad called me for the first time in months just to see if I was okay. He was worried that I hadn't posted and we had the following conversation as a result.
Dad: You haven't posted since Tuesday. Are you okay?
Me: Yeah, the servers are down.
Dad: What are servers?
Me: I'm fine. Don't worry.
Dad: Well, okay. Gee, the Cardinals are really sucking, huh?
Me: Yeah, it's pretty pathetic.
Dad: Yeah, well, glad you're okay.
Me: Me too, Pop.
Dad: Bye, smartass.
I mean, that's a motherfucking Hallmark moment, right there. I tear up just thinking about it.

Servers are actually underpaid college students who run around inside websites taking people's orders for particular files and folders. When you don't tip your server, it occasionally seeks revenge.
That being said, the site has been transferred to the new server (updates have been temporarily rolled back to April 30th on this backup copy), but I'm still working to get it functional.
So that's where we are as of Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Hopefully, you are reading this sometime during the month of May. Thanks for your patience. And we promise that a mistake like this will only happen a few more times in the next couple of months.
